Bucharest, 13 December 2012 – “Together for Communities” Campaign, organized this year by Holcim Romania, won the award for the “Volunteering Project of the Year for Companies” in the National Volunteering Gala 2012.
“Together for Communities” volunteering campaign was organized in April – June 2012, with the occasion of the celebration of 100 years of existence of Holcim Group in the world and 15 years of local presence.
The objective of “Together for Communities” campaign was for the 80,000+ Holcim employees worldwide to get involved, throughout the year, for at least one day, as volunteers in social programs, with a view to summing up, through the time spent on such actions, to at least 100 years. Each company in Holcim Group was free to choose how they wanted to implement the volunteering campaign, as well as the measures meant to generate a high percentage of employee engagement.
In Holcim Romania, the volunteering campaign was materialized in 16 volunteering actions attended by 610 Holcim Romania employees who carried out volunteering activities focused on three fields – tree planting for a greener environment, selective waste collection and rehabilitation of areas of public interest. The Romanian volunteers totaled 5,887 hours of community work, the equivalent of around 2.8 years of community work.
“This award recognizes our efforts in support of the communities where we operate. We are proud of the engagement and enthusiasm of our employees, who proved once again that volunteering works are already a tradition in Holcim Romania”, said Daniel Bach, General Director of Holcim Romania.
