Today, The National Administration "Romanian Waters" (ANAR) and Holcim (Romania), in partnership with the non-governmental organisation "Save Danube and the Delta!", The City Hall of District 4 and Urban SA, organise a sanitation activity on the banks of Dambovita, the Popesti-Leordeni area. The team of volunteers is headed by Marius Postelnicescu, General Director of ANAR, and Markus Wirth, Country Manager of Holcim (Romania). Also, 15 bins for selective collection of waste will be installed and they will be taken over, together with the waste collected during this action, by Urban SA.

The action of today is part of the campaign "Let's Keep The Waters Clean!", initiated by ANAR in partnership with Holcim (Romania). The campaign includes sanitation activities on the banks and surface of rivers and lakes in Romania, in all hydrographic basins. In the same time, the campaign has a strong informational character, stimulating the population to acquire an adequate behaviour towards water. Also, together with local authorities and sanitation companies, during the period July-September, bins for selective collection of waste will be place in all hydrographic basins, and their maintenance will be provided by the local sanitation companies. The metallic bins, weighting 52 kg, are for selective collection of waste: plastic (graphically represented by " PETfish"), paper, and metal (graphically represented by "meDUSE").

Within the "Let's Keep The Waters Clean!", Holcim (Romania) has also a financial contribution of EUR 90,000, amount which will be used for the acquisition of the 900 bins for selective collection of waste, and also for promotional and informational materials.

"For Holcim (Romania) the involvement in social responsibility projects is already a tradition. We support the principles of sustainable development and believe that, should we want to see a change, each of us needs to get actively involved and contribute to this change. This is why we joined the campaign "Let's Keep The Waters Clean!", initiated by The National Administration " Romanian Waters". We want to see as many joint efforts and public-private partnerships as possible," declared Markus Wirth, Country Manager of Holcim (Romania).

"The sanitation action for the banks of Dambovita is part of a national campaign which The National Administration "Romanian Waters" implements in all hydrographic basins. Although it is not our responsibility to clean the banks, we want to stimulate in this way the local authorities and induce them our ecological spirit. In the same time, this waste, as a result of natural effects, could be carried away on the surface of the water and this is the reason why the today's action aims to prevent this phenomenon which can also cause us a disservice. The public-private partnership between Romanian Waters and Holcim (Romania) has made possible that this campaign gains more consistency through the bins installed along the water," declared Marius Postelnicescu, General Director of The National Administration "Romanian Waters".
