Holcim (Romania) launches its 10th environmentally friendly concrete plant in Timisoara, which is the result of an investment of approximately EUR 2 million.
The plant has a capacity of 120 cubic meters of concrete per hour and is fully automatic, which guarantees both a constant quality and an exact quantity of supplied ready-mixed concrete. The most modern technology employed reduces to zero the dust emissions and the noise, and allows recycling of fresh concrete.
"The investment in this advanced technology is also an investment in the protection of the environment, which is one of our priorities. The care for the environment is part of our sustainable development, which is also proved by the launch of this 10th environmentally friendly concrete plant in Timisoara," said Markus Wirth, General Manager of Holcim (Romania).
One of the novelties of this type of plant is the fact that it is operational all year long, as it is equipped with a heating system for hot water and hot air, allowing concrete production in best conditions also during cold weather.
Holcim introduced for the first time in Romania the concept of environmentally friendly concrete plant in Pitesti in 2001. Out of the 13 concrete plants, which the company presently owns and operates, 10 are based on the concept of environmentally friendly plant (Pitesti, Craiova, Cluj Napoca, Ploiesti, Oradea, Arad, Sibiu, Bucharest - Chitila, Brasov and Timisoara), and the other 3 are at European standards (Bucharest - Pipera, Bucharest - Progresul and Satu Mare). One more environmentally friendly concrete plant will be launched in Targu Mures by year end.
The care for environment is also demonstrated in the value of investments Holcim (Romania) has made since 1997 for protecting the environment - EUR 20 million.
This year Holcim (Romania) will continue to invest over EUR 32 million in quality, environment protection, work and health safety, and other projects.
