Following an investment of approximately EUR 2 million, Holcim (Romania) launches its 11th environmentally friendly concrete plant in Targu Mures.

The number of concrete plants, which the company owns and operates now, is 14. Out of them, 11 are green-field plants and are based on the modular concept (Pitesti, Craiova, Cluj Napoca, Ploiesti, Oradea, Arad, Sibiu, Bucharest - Chitila, Brasov, Timisoara and Targu Mures), and the other were refurbished (Bucharest - Pipera, Bucharest - Progresul and Satu Mare). All concrete plants of Holcim (Romania) will meet the requirements of the environmentally friendly concept.

"Our commitment towards the protection of the environment is also illustrated by the investments we make in latest technologies such as the one on which the concrete plant in Targu Mures is based on. We introduced for the first time in Romania the concept of environmentally friendly concrete plant with the launch of the plant in Pitesti in 2001," said Markus Wirth, General Manager of Holcim (Romania).

One of the novelties of this type of plant is the fact that it is operational all year long, as it is equipped with a heating system for hot water and hot air, allowing concrete production in best conditions also during cold weather. The plant has a capacity of 120 cubic meters of concrete per hour and is fully automatic, which guarantees both a constant quality and an exact quantity of supplied ready-mixed concrete. The most modern technology employed reduces to zero the dust emissions and the noise, and allows recycling of fresh concrete.

This year Holcim (Romania) continues to invest over EUR 32 million in quality, environment protection, work and health safety, social responsibility, and other projects.
