Holcim Romania donates new anesthetics equipment to Campulung Municipal Hospital

Campulung, 8 December 2014 – Holcim Romania, a leading cement, ready-mix and aggregates producers, has granted a new sponsorship to Câmpulung Municipal Hospital, based on a partnership which has been in place for over 15 years.

The donation consists of a Dräger medical anesthetics equipment, type Fabius GS Premium, worth 48,000 Ron + VAT. This state-of-the-art equipment manufactured by one of the world leaders in the field, will equip the Anesthetics and Intensive Care (AIC) Unit of the Câmpulung Hospital, as part of a broader project for the rehabilitation and upgrading of the surgery section.

„The times when a plant was confined to what was happening within its premises are long gone. A company, especially an industrial one, must contribute to solving community problems. Holcim Romania considers that all companies should be involved in the lives of the communities where they operate. The donation we are making today is part of our company’s efforts over the past 15 years to contribute to improving the lives of the people in Campulung, mainly in terms of the quality of healthcare”, declared Emil Raicov, Manager of Holcim Cement Plant in Campulung.

"Câmpulung Municipal Hospital, the most important healthcare facility in Muscel, has benefited from consistent support from Holcim Romania over the past years, with sponsorships consisting in state-of-the-art medical equipment. Based on this long-standing partnership, our hospital has received several items of equipment that we really needed to support the medical act: lab analyzer, coagulometer, laparoscope, automatic blood analyzer, blood gas and electrolyte analyzer and many others. With this renewed support, Holcim Romania demonstrates its social responsibility towards the local community”, declared Mr. Stanescu Grigore, MD, Manager of Câmpulung Municipal Hospital.

The hospital provides services to around 120,000 patients. The new Dräger equipment will provide for approx. 600 general anesthesiae per year for surgical interventions on patients from the following medical units:  General Surgery, Obstetrics – Gynecology, Orthopedics – Traumatology, Plastic and Reparatory Surgery, E.N.T. and Ophthalmology.

With the help of the new anesthetics equipment, Câmpulung Municipal Hospital will manage to shorten the waiting times for surgical interventions, to avoid intra-hospital transfers for emergency surgeries, and to ensure a mandatory high quality standard. The hospital in Muscel will also be able to maintain the amount of the medical services reimbursed by the National Insurance House, taking into account the costly surgical interventions, to obtain better scores in the hospital assessment and accreditation procedures, to reduce the risk of nosocomial infections and to increase efficiency and quality in healthcare.
