Sofiane Benmaghnia appointed General Director of Holcim Romania
Bucharest, February 8th 2016 – Sofiane Benmaghnia, Algerian Canadian, 39 years, was appointed General Director of Holcim Romania, effective April 1st, 2016. He will replace François Petry, which was recently nominated as CEO Aggregates Industries – the subsidiary of LafargeHolcim in the United Kingdom.
Sofiane Benmaghnia, General Manager of Meftah Cement Operations, Aggregates & Concrete in Algeria since 2011, and previously 3 years as CFO Lafarge Middle East Aggregates and Concrete, joined LafargeHolcim Group in 1999 as Financial Analyst in Canada. Since then he has built a successful career in different markets in which the Group operates (North America, Middle East, Africa and Europe), covering both strategic and operational roles, gaining over 16 years of experience in the cement industry.

Sofiane is a CPA, CMA and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Tunis (Tunisia), a Graduate Certificate in Management Accounting from Concordia University (Canada), and an Executive MBA from Sherbrooke University (Canada).
For the last two years, François Petry, French, 48, led the Romanian subsidiary of Holcim in an historical moment that led to the creation of the world leader in the building materials industry – LafargeHolcim. On December 1st, François Petry was appointed CEO Aggregates Industries – the subsidiary of LafargeHolcim in the United Kingdom.
