Holcim Romania challenges the Romanians to donate cement for four families in need, in an online holiday competition

Bucharest, December 10th, 2015 – Through a unique online competition, Holcim Romania will contribute to building a four-apartment house for several homeless families in need, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Romania.

The competition “O, brad beton!” will take place between 10 and 23 December 2015 on the dedicated website www.obradbeton.ro – and is addressed to all Holcim fans, as well as those passionate about constructions.

Within the competition, the participants will be challenged to identify the location of the personalized Holcim Christmas tree, which will be virtually taken to several representative areas of Romania. Every correct answer will equate to donating a bag of Structo® Plus cement to the project Building together for the community, developed by Habitat for Humanity Romania to the benefit of several families in need from Ploiești.

“Around the winter holidays, our support goes to those who need us the most, to the families in need. A home is the foundation of any family, and through this competition, we have decided to donate the cement that will contribute to building a sustainable construction. It is the commitment we undertake, together with our partners from Habitat for Humanity Romania, for the beneficiaries who will benefit from the new houses in Ploiești, as well as the participants in the competition “O, brad beton”, declared Alina Cristea, Sustainable Development Manager Holcim Romania.

The collaboration between Holcim Romania and Habitat for Humanity Romania on this project was born from the desire to engage Holcim fans in a charitable initiative occasioned by the winter holidays, meant to provide decent housing to the families who do not have the possibility to build a home for themselves.

“Together with volunteers from around the world and Romanian companies, we are building houses for eight families with small incomes from Ploiești. We have managed to build four houses, and we will start working on the next four next spring. The foundations will be poured using the cement donated by Holcim Romania, following the competition launched during the holidays”, declared Iolanda Burtea, Corporate Fundraising Manager Habitat for Humanity Romania.
