Campulung Cement Plant, ranking first within Holcim Group in terms of the improvements brought between 2009 and 2011

 

Holcim Plant Awards is annually organized, to award the best performing plants, as well as the production units with the best improvements, compared to the previous years. Every year, specialists of Holcim Group assess all the 95 cement plants owned by Holcim in over 70 countries in the world, based on the following criteria:

•Plant reliability
•Maintenance performance
•Product quality
•Energy consumption
•Environmental protection
•Occupational health & safety)

Considering these criteria the Campulung plant has shown the biggest improvements over the 2009-2011 period. Furthermore, the cement plant has consistently improved its performances and ranks now 7th globally in Holcim Group.

Production upgrading and optimization, the efforts undertaken by the company in terms of occupational health & safety  and environmental protection as well as the successful strategy applied by Holcim in relation to the customers, place Holcim Romania among the best performing companies within Holcim Group.

“The award obtained by the team from Campulung is a recognition of the dedication and professionalism with which we planned and implemented a major change in the cement plant. We prioritized the health and safety of our people, as well as environmental protection. We took into account the increase of production efficiency, upgrading the technologies so as to provide quality products with a consumption of natural resources as low as possible. It was a team effort we intend to continue, with even more motivation and passion now”, added Emil Raicov, Campulung Cement Plant Manager.

Campulung Cement Plant has benefited from investments worth EUR 265 million since 1999. The largest investment was “Muscel 4000” project, which consisted in the commissioning of the new clinker line (the semi-finished material in the manufacturing of cement), worth  EUR 200 million.

“Muscel 400” project consisted of vast upgrading works, following which the plant can take pride in a series of premieres and records in Romania:
•The pre-homogenization hall with an impressive size - 162 m long, 76 m free opening and 25 m high;
•The largest vertical mill in Romania;
•The highest operating industrial construction in Romania (135 meters);
•The largest clinker silos in Romania, made of reinforced concrete.
