Today, Holcim has launched a new cement terminal in Progresul Bucharest after an 11.5 million euro investment. The new terminal has increased the storage capacity at 6,000 tons and the delivery capacity from 60,000 tones /year to 400,000 tones /year.
The new facilities meet the highest standards of performance, environmental protection and safety. Deliveries are made within 24 hours from the order and the new equipment allows direct loading from wagons to vehicles.
"Through this distribution center Holcim wants to be closer to the customers of the most important market concentration from Romania. Moreover the new terminal allows the replacement of the road transport with rail transport from the cement plant to Bucharest, allowing optimized distribution costs and a considerable reduction of the environmental impact" said Markus Wirth, General Manager Holcim România.
