The extraction of limestone and clay in the quarries is a process with impact on the landscape and the environment. Out of care and respect for the environment, Holcim (Romania) started a plan for the rehabilitation of all operational quarries. The company re-integrates the exploited areas into the surrounding landscape and takes into consideration the options of all parties involved in order to ensure the functioning of the ecosystem and the biodiversity.
"We have tailor-made rehabilitation plans for each quarry we operate. All our activities are planned and implemented so that they have the least impact on the landscape and environment and, moreover, they contribute to a healthier environment," said Calin Moldovan, Director of Turda Cement Plant.
